Five Day Super
Package Dunedin, Queenstown and Milford
From Christchurch to
Christchurch train and coach journey through the scenic splendour
of New Zealand's South Island.
Highlights Day One - Christchurch to Dunedin
- THE SOUTHERNER: Travel by train to Dunedin via the
mixed cropping and sheep grazing lands of the Canterbury
Plains. Closer to your destination this journey travels along
the rugged coastline of North Otago.
- DUNEDIN: Rich in Scottish heritage this city boasts
some of the most beautiful architecture in New Zealand.
Transfer to your accommodation included on your arrival.
Highlights Day two - Dunedin to Queenstown
- TAIERI GORGE: Spend a morning at leisure in Dunedin
enjoying the sights before transferring to the railway station
to board the historic Taieri Gorge train. Steeped in early
settler history this journey features spectacular changing
scenery with magnificent pioneer stone work and engineering
along the railway. A combination of modern carriages with
panoramic views and immaculately restored traditional versions
make this a truly memorable train ride. At Pukerangi transfer
to your coach and continue to Queenstown through the rugged
rock landscape of Central Otago.
Highlights Day three- Milford Sound Day
Excursion
- LAKE WAKATIPU: Follow the shoreline of the lake’s
southern arm before travelling overland to Te Anau. After
morning tea (own arrangements) continue towards the grass
covered Eglinton valley surrounded by forest clad mountains
- THE ROAD TO MILFORD: This has been described as one
of the most spectacular scenic routes in the world. The lush
forest growth west of the Homer Tunnel contrasts with the
stark barren beauty east of the tunnel.
- MILFORD SOUND: Depart on your 11/2 hr cruise past
Mitre Peak which rises dramatically from the ocean floor to
it’s snow capped summit. View spectacular waterfalls, look
out for dolphins, seals and penguins. Return to Queenstown by
coach arriving early evening. Return flight option
available subject to weather (at extra cost).
Highlights Day four - Queenstown free Day
- QUEENSTOWN: Full day at leisure for you to enjoy this
amazing year round holiday resort. There are many optional
activities - jetboating, white water rafting, bungy jumping,
lake cruise, wine tasting and golf. Call at the Queenstown
Visitor Centre under the Clocktower for advice and
reservations.
Highlights Day five - Queenstown/Mount
Cook/Christchurch
- LINDIS PASS: Travel the highway across the golden
tussock covered slopes of this Alpine pass.
- MOUNT COOK: Opportunity for lunch at Mount Cook
village (own arrangements). We recommend a scenic flight
with Air Safaris around Mount Cook and the Tasman Glaciers
landing at Tekapo, where you rejoin the coach bound for
Christchurch.
- CHRISTCHURCH: Return to the garden city via Mount
Cook and Tekapo arriving approx 6.15pm.
