Wellington is the Capital of New Zealand and is situated at the southern end of the North Island. Based around a large harbor with hills close to the waters edge, the main settlement has been in the valleys to the north, Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt, and to the west in the valleys of Johnsonville, Tawa and Porirua. The main commercial centre is based around Lampton Quay with Government Departments and Embassies close to the port.
